Windows Of Heaven

In the book of Malachi the Lord commands Israel…file0001004835843

10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.

As I pondered this scripture today I realized that the blessings we receive from paying our tithing to the Lord are far greater than we can ever imagine.

For the past year we have gone through some amazingly purifying trials that I never thought I could make it through. We have weathered the storms of unemployment, moving, and the unsurety of life. Through it all I have reflected and seen how much closer my family has become.

This is not the only blessing we have received. We have been guided in every footstep, not knowing why or what the results would be. Most of the time we have done many things that have not made sense at all, simply feeling that was the best path for us.

Today we have received another blessing from the windows of heaven. My husband has been interviewing with a company, in a field he has worked in for years. They called him to continue in the interviewing process. As we counseled and prayed together about this opportunity (the only one at the moment), we felt he should not continue with the interview process. So he made the call. Normally this would be a cause for rapid breathing, heart palpitations and severe sadness. Today that was not the case.

The blessing that came from heaven was the peace, strength and faith to move forward without this opportunity. There are a few questions that remain in our hearts, however we have the peace in knowing they will be answered. We are blessed on every level by the commandment of tithing. We give back such a small portion of what He has given us. With gratitude in my heart today, I thank Him once again for all He has done for us.
